Know the best route to the hospital/birthing center, foreseeing rush-hour traffic and always have adequate car fuel. If you are the birth assistant, read and re-read the stages of labor (page 58 onwards). Be mindful of the intensity of the transition and second stage. After the birth, be the bouncer for visitors. Be proactive in helping out with household chores and give your partner a gentle massage now and then. Lovingly accept that you will be in the background as the mum and baby bond and discover their routine.
